The Sorroundings

It is not necessary to take his car to enjoy nature. Vannes and the Gulf offers a wide range of scenery.

Fifteen minutes walk along the harbor, you will see ramparts and flowering gardens that  stands its half-timbered houses around the magnificent cathedral.

You have the opportunity to enjoy the island of Conleau 2 kms south to soak up the atmosphere of the gulf. This site has been always a place for holiday and relaxation, from the golden age to our time.

You can enjoy "at the feet of El Nido" a walk or a''footing''on the protected site of the Pointe des émigrés. All activities and events: Exhibition, Aquarium, Museum of Butterflies ... are accessible on foot, leaving your car in El Nido, if you like ...

El NIdo is  located on the edge of the Gulf of Morbihan to discover the islands, just  3 minutes walk to the new ferry terminal that offers a pleasant trips for your various destinations around the islands!

Origin of Property

When was it? seventeenth century, perhaps much older.
It refers to the hermit who in the first days of Christianity, were withdrawn from the world to devote himself to prayer and fasting ...

One can imagine that Saint-Emilion stayed in the Hermitage before his departure for Saint-Jacques de Compostela in Galicia!

Residents of Trussac, (manor house near the "El Nido"), saw the old home of the Hermitage "curiously dovered with a small steeple slates, along the path (now classified) from the rue de la Brise (Trussac) to the road Conleau. From a secrecy and a bit mysterious, this former residence was hiding behind the high walls of a garden.

In the museum of the polymath, Château Gaillard in Vannes, on the  2nd floor surrounded by woodworks that talks about the lives of 57 ermine ...

Property's history

The current El Nido property is built on an ancient site: the Hermitage.

Access to the path of the Hermitage passes the statue of Saint Emilion avenue which bears his name, to raise awareness of the links that unite our city to the famous vineyards of Bordeaux. Our friends have always known Aquitanians Saint Emilion was a native of Vannes.

At Vannes Saint Emilion is part of the landscape of downtown ... but by opening a bottle of this famous beverage that you prefer to honor him

The hermit Emilien Breton came to find refuge in the eighth century in a cave (near Libourne) he carved in the shape of the Cross ...

Dug the eighth to the twelfth century by generations of monks, it became the largest church troglodytic of Europe! Most of the galleries of the village of Saint Emilion are dedicated to breeding and storage of the famous Grands Crus of Bordeaux!

Emilion (Emilien) was born in Vannes in the early eighth century. Vannes in 1990 paid homage to Saint Emilion building a statue in the heart of the historic street of virgins. Avenue Saint Emilion seal the ties that unite our city to the famous vineyards of Bordeaux.
